A temática deste estudo focalizou a amamentação enquanto fenômeno situado no ser gestante. A experiência de orientar gestantes sobre aleitamento materno durante o acompanhamento pré-natal foi o ponto de partida da minha investigação. Assim, meu objetivo foi compreender o evento, mostrando que se trata de um fenômeno e que, enquanto tal, é uma possibilidade do campo existencial. O caminhar na trajetória fenomenológica, utilizando como respaldo o referencial filosófico de Martin Heidegger, oportunizou desvelar este fenômeno. Os depoimentos obtidos permitiram-me captar o significado atribuído pelas gestantes à amamentação. A compreensão da temática envolveu o ser na dimensão do existir e o poder-ser como inerente à existência. Neste sentido foi possível refletir e tecer considerações àcerca da amamentação na assistência de enfermagem pré-natal, com base em uma abordagem compreensiva que valoriza o humano nesta experiência.

The focus of my study was on breast-feeding as a phenomenon within the pregnant woman. The initial point of my investigation was my experience with pregnant women advising them about breastfeeding during the period prenatal. Thus, I aimed at understanding the event as a phenomenon, and as such a possibility in the existencial field. With this idea in mind and Martin Heidegger's philosophical references as support, I was able to understand that phenomennon. The answers obtained from the interviews allowed me to grasp the meaning those pregnant women attributed to breastfeeding. The understanding of the theme involved the being in the dimension of existence and, the possibility of being as inherent to existence. Therefore, it was possible to reflect on the subject and make some considerations about breast-feeding as performing nursing assistance to pregnant woman prenatal nursing assistance, based on a comprehensive approach that values the human being in this experience.
